The head temple of the worldwide community of Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha (school of Buddhism) is Ryukokuzan Hongwanji in Kyoto. It was established in 1272.
Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha has approximately 10,400 affiliated temples and 33,550 ordained priests. It is one of a total of ten independent schools of Shin Buddhism.
